Six vacuum-and-mop combination machines compared on Australian availability, local warranty terms and parts availability — not just specs.
ECOVACS DEEBOT X8 MAX PRO Omni
Its rolling mop washes itself while it works, which matters more day to day than a headline suction figure.
Why this one →Roborock Qrevo Edge 2 Pro
The highest suction figure here, and warm-water mopping aimed at bacteria and odour rather than visible dirt.

Discounts hard and loses little in practice. On sale it is the strongest value here by a wide margin.
Check price at Amazon AU Why this one →The best robot vacuum and mop in Australia has to handle mixed floors: tile through the living areas, carpet in the bedrooms. That combination is why the vacuum-and-mop machine has become the default rather than the upgrade, and why the plain robot vacuum is quietly disappearing from local shelves.
The problem is that almost every “best robot vacuum” list you’ll find was written overseas. They’ll tell you which machine cleans best. They won’t tell you what happens when the dock fails in month fourteen, whether you can buy a replacement roller in Australia, or which brands actually have someone here to answer the phone.
That’s what this guide covers. If your house is a mix of surfaces and you want the floor-by-floor version, the carpet, tiles and floorboards guide goes deeper on that question.

How we chose these machines
ServiceBot has not tested these units in-house, and we do not claim to have. What we do instead is compile the information Australian buyers cannot easily find in one place.
Our rankings draw on independent testing from established reviewers, manufacturer specifications, aggregated owner reviews from Australian retailers, and warranty terms as they apply here.
Where our ranking differs from an overseas reviewer, it is usually because a highly rated model has poor local support, limited parts availability, or is not sold in Australia at a competitive price.
The picks

Released in Australia on 20 April 2026, sold through Amazon AU and ECOVACS Australia directly. It pairs high-pressure suction with a self-washing rolling mop, alongside a dock that washes, dries and empties itself.
The rolling mop matters more than the suction figure for most Australian homes. Pad-based mops push dirt around once saturated. A roller that rinses itself continuously while cleaning keeps working properly across a large tiled area, which is the situation most local buyers are actually in.
The Max is a slimmer redesign of the original X8 PRO Omni, keeping the cleaning features while reducing the dock footprint. Worth knowing if space near a power point is tight.
Launched in Australia in February 2026, sold through Roborock’s official online store and selected retail partners. It runs the highest suction figure of anything on this list. Mopping uses warm water with 12 newtons of downward pressure through dual spinning pads, which improves surface contact and stain removal in high-traffic areas.
The design brief was hygiene rather than raw cleaning: heat-based cleaning at both the mop and the dock, aimed at bacteria, allergens and odour rather than visible dirt. If someone in the house has allergies, that is the argument for it.
The previous generation model. On paper it out-suctions its own replacement, though the newer Max has the more compact dock.
TechRadar’s reviewer rated it the best robot vacuum they had tested for edge cleaning, both vacuuming and mopping, crediting the rolling design rather than mop pads for the improvement.
Strong suction with a bristle brush, and 75°C hot water mop washing at the dock.
The distinguishing feature is the extending side brush and edge mop. When the robot detects a corner, the brush extends outward to sweep it, and the right-side mop pushes out to clean along edges. Most robots leave a visible unmopped strip against skirting boards. This is the design that addresses it.
Owner reports put the mop lift at 17mm, higher than the 10mm on the Qrevo L. That matters if you have thicker rugs, since the mop needs to clear the pile without dampening it.
Strong suction with an extending side brush and mop, an anti-tangle brush, and 75°C hot water mop washing in an all-in-one station.
The reason to choose this one is height. At 8.1cm it is slim enough to clear furniture that stops taller machines, and low clearance under beds and sofas is where hair and dust actually accumulate.
Dual spinning mops at 200 revolutions per minute, a 10mm mop lift, and a dock that self-washes, air-dries, refills the water tank and empties the dust bin. Roborock quote over seven weeks of hands-free operation.
What makes it interesting is the discounting: it has been discounted through Amazon AU, and lower again after cashback promotions. At those prices it is the strongest value on this list by a wide margin.
Warranty, parts and your rights
What the manufacturer warranty covers
Warranty terms vary by brand and, importantly, by retailer. Always confirm the warranty period on the specific listing you are buying from rather than assuming it is consistent across the brand. Grey imports sold through marketplace sellers may carry no Australian warranty at all, even when the product itself is genuine.
Your rights under Australian Consumer Law
Australian Consumer Law gives you automatic consumer guarantees when you buy from an Australian business. These apply in addition to any manufacturer warranty and cannot be excluded, no matter what the warranty document says. The guarantees most relevant to a robot vacuum are that goods must be of acceptable quality, fit for the purpose you were told they would serve, and match their description. A robot vacuum sold as handling pet hair should handle pet hair.
For a major failure — one where you would not have bought the product had you known — the choice of remedy is yours: refund, replacement, or compensation for the drop in value. For a minor problem, the business chooses, within a reasonable time. And your rights are not limited to the warranty period: on a machine costing upwards of $2,000, a reasonable consumer would expect several years of service. If the dock fails at eighteen months and the manufacturer warranty has expired, you may still have a claim. You claim against the retailer, not the manufacturer. Keep your receipt.
This is general information, not legal advice. For guidance on your specific situation, see the ACCC’s consumer rights and guarantees information at accc.gov.au.
Spare parts and consumables
A robot vacuum you cannot buy parts for is a temporary appliance. Brushes, filters, mop pads and dock bags all wear out, and availability in Australia varies by brand.
For ECOVACS, cleaning fluid and antibacterial dust bags are an ongoing cost, both available locally. Roborock consumables including mop cloths and side brushes are typically replaced every three to six months. Independent Australian reviewers have noted that replacement part availability is not always confirmed at the official Australian store, so check before buying if long-term serviceability matters to you.
What to look for in an Australian home
Mixed floors: tile and carpet
Most Australian homes run tile or timber through the living areas with carpet in the bedrooms. That makes mop lift the specification to check first. The machine needs to raise its mop before it crosses onto carpet, and the lift height determines whether it manages deeper pile.
Most models on this list lift 10mm. The Qrevo Edge lifts 17mm. If you have thick rugs, that difference decides whether you are drawing manual no-go zones in the app for the next five years.
Pet hair
Tangling is the main failure point, not suction. Look for anti-tangle brush designs, because hair wrapping the brush roll stops the machine cleaning regardless of how much suction it has. Owners of dual-roller models report they handle long hair better than single-roller designs. Our pet hair guide goes further into this.
Apartment sizing and dock clearance
Self-washing docks are large. Before buying, measure the space you intend to put it in and check the dock dimensions rather than the robot’s. A dock also needs clearance in front of it so the robot can align, and it needs to be near a power point. If space is tight, the newer X8 MAX PRO Omni has a deliberately reduced dock footprint compared with the model it replaced.
Questions people actually ask
Are robot vacuums worth it?
For most households with hard floors, yes. They handle daily dust so you only need to deep clean occasionally. The value case is weaker if your home is mostly deep-pile carpet, where a conventional vacuum still cleans better.
Can a robot vacuum replace a regular vacuum?
Not entirely. Robot vacuums handle floors well but cannot do stairs, upholstery, or under most low furniture. Treat one as a replacement for daily sweeping rather than for your vacuum cleaner.
Do robot vacuums work on carpet?
Yes, though performance varies with pile depth. Most models detect carpet and increase suction automatically. Deep pile remains difficult for every model on the market.
Can robot vacuums climb stairs?
No. No consumer robot vacuum climbs stairs. They use cliff sensors to detect drops and avoid them. For a multi-storey home you need either a unit per floor, or to carry it between levels.
How do robot vacuums map your house?
Most current models use a spinning laser that measures distance to build a floor plan. Cheaper models use gyroscopes and bump sensors, which produce less efficient cleaning paths. Once mapped, you can usually set no-go zones and clean individual rooms on command. Our navigation explainer covers this properly.
Do robot vacuums work without WiFi?
They will clean without WiFi, usually via a button on the unit. You lose scheduling, mapping, zone control and app settings, which is most of what you paid for.
How much should I pay for a robot vacuum and mop in Australia?
Recommended retail prices span a wide range, from budget models up to the current flagship. Australian street pricing moves considerably, and discounts of 40 to 60 per cent off recommended retail are common around major sale periods. Unless you need one immediately, waiting for a sale is usually worth several hundred dollars.
