Signal: Realbotix EchoLaunched 26 Oct 2026First deliveries 2nd half 2027Ships to Australia: no
On 26 October, Las Vegas robot maker Realbotix opened reservations for Echo, a talking humanoid robot with a silicone face and a choice of four personalities. Only 250 will be built for 2027, and Realbotix’s own frequently asked questions page says it delivers in the United States only.
- Echo comes in two sizes: a compact Tabletop model, and a Full Body humanoid up to 196cm tall.
- It talks using artificial intelligence (AI), including ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, and every Echo needs a paid monthly AI plan to run.
- Realbotix plans 225 Tabletop and 25 Full Body units, with deliveries expected in the second half of 2027.
- On 27 October, Realbotix said it will deliver only within the United States, so you can’t order one to Australia.
What Echo actually is
Echo is a social robot, built to talk rather than to do chores. Realbotix pitches it at education, elder care, wellness, hotels, shops and office reception, where the job is to talk to people and keep them company.
The Tabletop is a compact desktop model with silicone skin on its face and neck. The Full Body carries the skin down to its forearms and hands, and Realbotix lists articulated fingers, two stereo cameras, four microphones and “fluid upper-body movement” for it. It doesn’t say it walks, and nothing on its pages shows it doing a household job.

The two sizes, side by side
| Realbotix figure | Echo Tabletop | Echo Full Body |
|---|---|---|
| US price, 27 Oct | US$11,950 | US$59,950 |
| Height | 31 to 32 in (about 79 to 81cm) | 72 in female, 77 in male (about 183 and 196cm) |
| Footprint | 13 x 13 in (about 33 x 33cm) | 28 x 28 in (about 71 x 71cm) |
| Weight | 25 lb (about 11kg) | 88 lb (about 40kg) |
| Degrees of freedom | 17 | 39 |
| Silicone skin | Face and neck | Face, neck, and arms from the elbows down, including hands |
| Planned for 2027 | 225 | 25 |
Degrees of freedom: the number of separate ways the joints can move. Realbotix calls sizes and weights approximate; centimetres and kilograms are our conversions.
Four characters, and a personality app
You pick one of four characters when you reserve, each with its own face and voice. Realbotix calls Aria optimistic, Mila empathetic, Dave analytical and Amar protective.
After that, personality is software you adjust in the Realbotix App. On 27 October the app was an invite-only beta on Apple’s iOS, with Android “planned”.
The launch release says Echo speaks over 100 languages. Check the plans before counting on it: the pricing page lists “100+ languages/accents” from the Plus plan up, not on the cheapest one.

The subscription is not optional
Every Echo needs a monthly AI plan, paid in the app once the robot arrives and priced by talk time and features.
| AI plan | US price a month, 27 Oct | Talk time a month |
|---|---|---|
| Base | US$19.99 | 10 hours |
| Plus | US$39.99 | 40 hours, adds 100+ languages and accents |
| Enterprise | US$199 | 100 hours, adds your own characters and knowledge base |
| Enterprise with Vision | US$199 | Unlimited, and required for the Vinci camera upgrade |
| Vinci Vision System | US$24,950 one-off add-on | Recognises who it’s talking to, keeps eye contact, reads emotional cues |
Prices exclude US sales tax. If you run out of hours, Realbotix says Echo is limited to basic functions.
Ten hours a month is about 20 minutes a day. For a companion robot, that’s the number to think about first.
Privacy: stored locally, with a catch
Realbotix says conversation history, memories and face data are stored on the robot and your paired device, not uploaded to Realbotix, and you can delete them in the app. It does receive usage logs.
The catch is in its own FAQ: to answer you, Echo sends audio, text and context to third-party AI providers, which process it live. So stored locally doesn’t mean every word stays home. Realbotix says the exception is the Enterprise with Vision plan, where speech and AI run on the robot.
Paying for one, and the fine print
- Reserve: US$199 depositHolds a place in the first batch, comes off the price, and locks the price.
- Before it’s builtRealbotix invoices 50% of the price. Pay within 30 days or the reservation and deposit are gone.
- Before it shipsThe rest of the price, plus shipping.
- When it arrivesYour AI plan starts, and so does a 12-month limited warranty on defects in materials and workmanship.
Cancel and the deposit is gone; it comes back only if Realbotix can’t deliver. And its delivery dates are estimates that “aren’t guaranteed”.
Can you get one in Australia?
Not on 27 October. Asked whether it delivers outside the United States, Realbotix’s FAQ answers “Not yet”, and it sells only through its own website.
So there’s no Australian price, and nothing from Realbotix on Australian power, warranty or support. If Echo comes here, check those first.
The next date to watch: CES 2027, 6 to 9 January, where Realbotix says Echo will be on show.

Does it change anything for Australian buyers?
Echo is a talking companion robot pitched at aged care, classrooms and hotel lobbies. For an Australian household it’s news, not a shopping decision: it doesn’t ship here, the first units are about a year away, and the running cost depends on how much you talk to it.

What we don’t know yet
- When, or whether, Echo will ship outside the United States.
- Whether the Tabletop has the cameras and microphones listed for the Full Body.
- What happens to the 50% payment if you cancel after paying it.
- Battery life: Realbotix lists both sizes as plugging into an outlet and gives no battery figure.
- What the digital twin, an online version of your character due in 2027, will cost.
