Standing 40cm tall, the Ruko is bigger than most toy robots, which is a large part of the appeal when a child first sees it.
Nine flexible joints give it a range of movement well beyond the usual walk-forward toy. It performs gymnastics routines, dances, tells stories and plays music across ten songs, with ten facial expressions and a recording function.
The programming side is the real point. Children can sequence movements and commands through the Carle app, which introduces the basics of logic and problem solving without feeling like a lesson.
Control options
Three ways to drive it: a 2.4GHz remote, the Carle app over Bluetooth, or gravity-sensor mode where you steer by tilting your phone. Voice commands are also supported.
Battery
Charges in around 150 minutes for roughly 100 minutes of play. A red light shows charging in progress and switches off when complete, and a low-battery reminder helps manage play sessions.
Build and safety
Made from ABS with smooth, burr-free edges. Carries FCC and CPC certification.
Before first use
Charge for at least 30 minutes out of the box. Use the supplied cable, as USB-C to USB-C will not charge it.
Warranty
Ruko offer 30 days for return or exchange and a 90-day warranty.
