Xiaomi Robot Vacuum H40

A mop-free robot vacuum with a self-emptying base, 10,000Pa of suction and laser mapping, sold and shipped by Amazon Australia.

Description

The H40 is a straightforward proposition: it vacuums, it empties itself, and it does not mop. For a household with carpet, or one that would rather mop by hand, that removes most of the ongoing maintenance a vacuum-and-mop machine brings with it.

Xiaomi rate it at 10,000Pa, which is enough for grit in floor crevices and along skirting boards, and the base station holds four litres of debris in a body only 32.6cm tall. The main brush uses a comb-like V-shaped design to gather and release long hair rather than wrapping it, in five stages.

It maps with a spinning laser scanner, the same approach used by most premium robots, which means it plans a route rather than bouncing at random, and it works just as well in the dark. It takes voice commands through Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.
